SHCDP Expands Partnerships

Pittsburgh LEARNS, a program that allows SHCDP to provide after school programming within Weil Accelerated Learning Academy for children in grades K-2 will be expanded in January to work with students in grades K-5 at Weil.

Also beginning in January, SHCDP will begin a new partnership with YouthPlaces, a community agency that received a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant that will allow us to expand our work with middle school students from Weil Accelerated Learning Academy.

SHCDP Receives Highmark Healthy High 5 Grant

Thanks to a generous grant from the Highmark Healthy High 5 Initiative, the NIA Health and Wellness Program will expand beginning in January to provide Healthy Living classes to students enrolled in A-STEP, SEP, and Pittsburgh LEARNS at Weil. The goal of the new project (Physical Activity Enrichment for Youth) is to integrate wellness, nutrition education, and academic support into programming designed to raise the awareness of the effects of proper nutrition and exercise on the physical and emotional development of youth.

Special Thanks

Thanks to Rev. and Mrs. Samuel W. George, the Silver Shepherds of Grace, and the Presbyterian Women of Grace for Contributing to A-STEP during George Weekend. Thanks also to Grace Church Members who continuously provide support, prayers, and financial blessings to SHCDP in support of A-STEP and SEP.
